I love this film - Cassavetes' last, I think - in which he and Gena Rowlands play a brother and sister whose stories go along in tandem until they end up sharing a house. The second act establishes their lives together. This movie like most/all of John's is not for everyone but for a minority it is a god send.
According to the Criterion website it's going to contain the Michael Ventura documentary "I'm Almost Not Crazy" as well. The 56-minute feature offers plenty of behind-the-scenes material, as one would figure, showing the director work with his actorsâparticularly his wife, Rowlandsâstaging his scenes, and the frustrations that would come from that: after cutting Cassavetes states what they got is âhorse shitâ but then follows up stating itâs âgood horse shit.â There are interviews with Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, the heads of Cannon, and interviews with others on set.
