Every time my audiobook went 'The Girls, Season 1' I was literally so excited because I loved all the perspectives I was getting and the way it was paralleling the host tracing Sadie's steps which were revealed in Sadie's POV originally, or would be in the future. Sadie is one great example of this. This is not a podcast, although it begins that way. She broke my heart with All the Rage a few years ago, but with Sadie she has achieved a whole new level of heartbreak. Sadie herself had been abused by the same man – one of her mother’s former no-good boyfriends – and that story is fucked up, awful and too sad for words. Sadie can no longer live, knowing that the man she believes is Mattie's killer is still out there. Sadie's character, her grief, her desperation to avenge Mattie, and the sheer adrenaline of wanting to eliminate Keith that she was running on was in a twisted way relatable. Also can we talk about HOW CREATIVE OF A WAY THIS IS TO TELL A STORY? TELL ME. Overall, this is such a solid book and the only reason possibly it doesn't have five stars is because I'm still salty over that ending (although, admittedly, that's what made this book even more powerful and ingrained in my brain for years to come). Each character we talked to in this story had such a different voice, such a different reason, such a different way of looking at things — it was amazing to learn about all of them through the radio show.

While Sadie’s story is fictional, it is sadly believable and all too close to real life. It is a harsh, terrible, amazing and brilliant book. In Sadie, the narrative is creatively split into two different time periods. WHAT HAPPENED? I know I'm going to think about this a LOT. ( Log Out / What happened to Sadie though? This is a deeply disturbing and heart-wrenching story that left me feeling hollow and weary and unbearably sad. I adored how we unravelled the story little by little (and yet, the ending left me ??). A missing girl on a journey of revenge and a Serial—like podcast following the clues she's left behind. Mattie is the only bright spot in Sadie’s life and she is completely devoted to her.
This story is very exciting and has many cliff-hangers, with some chapters ending without you ever finding out how it ended.
