I've watched it well over 20 times and it never gets old. This is the first film I have seen where Pesci is the lead role and he proved to sore beyond what his talents are, he's definitely one of the most under rated actors of all time, I feel like he's Hollywood's hidden secret weapon. Went to Vinny's twice out of the three nights we were in Niagara. Even his name, Chamberlain Haller, evokes seriousness.

Two New Yorkers accused of murder in rural Alabama while on their way back to college call in the help of one of their cousins, a loudmouth lawyer with no trial experience. The supporting cast is peppered with fine actors doing good work, Lane Smith and Austin Pendleton are memorable but the real standout is Fred Gwynne as the judge in his last role, a great way to wrap up a career. My Cousin Vinny is a movie that I will play to cheer me up because it's hard to feel down while watching it. The regional stereotypes in Dale Launer's broad script aren't so laudable, but the on-screen talent merits a retrial: Tomei talks up a storm and Pesci terrorises thinly spread gags into near-shape. Underrated.
Courtroom comedy will appeal to teens. That’s because Pesci makes Vinny endearing, in a way. I kept thinking, where do I know that guy? Pesci would look terrific in a torn-up leather jacket in front of the judge, to his ultimate disgrace!

In contributing to the IMDb review database, I wanted to include a comedy that worked, that was funny, that was interesting, that made the viewer actually look forward to the next line or setup.

You could probably shave 20 minutes off the running time and the second half is definitely stronger than the first, but comedies aren’t made like this anymore. "My Cousin Vinny" is a real gem, a perfect, funny, smart comedy, a very rare kind that I can watch and enjoy over and over again no matter how many times I've seen it and from what scene I watch it. When his teenage cousin Bill and his friend Stan are accused of murder in a backwater Alabama town, it's up to the nervous Vinny to save him from jail, even though he's only ever tried personal injury cases before, and none of them successfully. In their desperation, they hire the cousin of one of them to be their lawyer, only to find out that Vinny has only recently become a lawyer, and has no real experience with legal procedure.
All rights reserved. Vinny is a winning character and Pesci's performance as the beleaguered litigant is terrific - cranked yet cuddly. She manages to come across incredibly natural, while still being brassy and fun. And then of course there's yet another turn by James Rebhorn in an antagonistic role. Just imagine one of the guys in Goodfellas that didn't want to follow in the footsteps of the rest of the gangsters and this is him. I ask that in open-ended wonderment, and certainly not disparagingly. Pesci does his best, but a lawyer's suit on him becomes a straitjacket.
And the story is astonishingly funny and every time I watch I still have to laugh my head off.
