There is one great dramatic turn that I shan't mention here. It's got the noir-pedigree, it's a James M Cain story, there's a big role for Ted DiCorsia as the gang boss, Payne's amoral protagonist and especially Dahl are great and noir legend John Alton somehow manages to do even better shadow work in colour than he does in black and white.
