This book is about a teenager, Sam, who is a Mean Girl who trips into Groundhog Day world and is set on a path to redemption. I would say 5 stars to author Lauren Oliver in taking juveniles with a blatant disregard for humanity and turning it into the story of Sam who discovers the importance of humanity. A few things were mentioned about her in that part. I’m not sure how everyone else feels about their High School experience, but I despised mine.
Some of the thoughts that Sam would think as she would pass from one day to the next were beautifully thoughtful causing you to question how you treat and respect the people and things we have. Until the sound of the rhythmic alarm tone is heard in the background. For most of Kingston’s life, she’s been the girl to light up the room she walks into.
The star rating reflects overall quality. Will Kingston get a second chance at life? It reminds me of an old X-Files episode called Monday.

I felt emotions I had not experienced in years, emotions I had long forgotten. So, time to re-read it, I guess. Her perspective makes the book more realistic and immediate, and makes Sam's ultimate bid for redemption stronger and sadder. Well, maybe my description of boring could be expected. I hated this book, and loved it. If it's the first, that's too bad for Sam and the mess she left.
Vicky actually wasn't that influential to the plot, but was only there to add a dimension so in the beginning, you see Sam is a bit guilty and therefore has the potential to change into who she is at the end of the book. Families can talk about bullying and the perception that these days, more girls bully than boys. Every morning she opens her eyes is a new chapter to understand who Kingston is and why she does what she does. I felt emotions I had not experienced in years, emotions I had long forgotten.
What advice would you give someone who has been bullied? [I happen to like ambiguous endings because they give me the opportunity to think about what I just read--I can draw my own conclusions. This book completely knocked me off my feet by how easy it was to be absorbed in and once I opened it I didn’t want to stop for anything.
