Your choices for lodging are pretty limited in Caliente. Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Crazy Horse Memorial, and much more. Our experience was NOT overwhelmingly positive. Very nice and clean place to stay. First the positives: plenty of parking, close to grocery store and restaurants (try the Side Track), functional, albeit noisy, air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, bar of soap, reasonably comfortable bed and clean sheets, hot water in the sink, doors that lock (but need to be manually locked when you leave). There is a sign when you enter town that says it's the FINEST motel in town......It was !...the room was very clean, service was great and the only complaint was the noisy trains while trying to sleep ( not the motels fault...) SHADY MOTEL will see me again.... Nice new towels, nice check-in guy. Fortunately, we were pleasantly surprised by the Shady Motel. I have been staying at The Shady Motel for business for ten years and I have always been very happy with their services. Glenwood's two claims to fame are the Conboy Wildlife Refuge and it's yearly Father's Day weekend rodeo (which is pretty small on the rodeo circuit when compared to towns like Goldendale or Ellensburg).
