DJ Molles went to good length to describe the design of the access to the bunker. After firing up the nuclear power plant nearest to their base at Fort Bragg, the team realizes that to keep civilization running they are going to need fuel. This is emotional, brutal with great story and characters. The book is fantastic and superb and a number of other adjectives that don’t do it justice. Lee is in a bad way most of this book, I can wait to see what he can do at 100% because he is pretty amazing at, dare I say, about 25%.
Our hero is then covered in zombie guts and simply goes out the back of the house and washes off in a stream.

When her police contact asks her It’s been several years since the outbreak of the FURY bacterium. Not great but a necessary read before we hopefully get to the good stuff. The Remaining by D.J. I read " The Stand " and it almost killed me getting through it! Must read. I also find it kind of funny how we as readers all relate that those infected with the plague as “zombies” but in the story, I don’t think that word has been used once to describe the infected. However, I read the book with an open mind and I see a lot of potential in this one. The story picks up shortly after the events of The Remaining.
Regardless, the book was still a decent zombie lit novel and would probably satisfy most zombie aficionados that are focused more on the human elements of zombie apocalypse rather than the omg-zombies-are-eating-people-run-now aspect. You definitely fall in love with the characters!
I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants an action-packed, heart-stopping read. It will be awesome to see how Lee, as a member of a military that no longer seems functioning, persuade different factions and people whom may have very different goals in this now post apocalyptic world to do just that. So if you’ve seen the movie, please don’t judge the book by it. Its been too long but finally Lee Harden is back!!! zit kept me rivited to every page and I think I finished this book in record time. Though this doesn’t work out for them as well as they might hope, it still creates an interesting story following Lee Harden in his mission to understand what has happened and start rebuilding society from the ground up. If you’re leaning more into the zombie lit genre, I would recommend quite highly World War Z by Max Brooks. Grabs your attention and keeps it! Sorry, but it just looks lazy to me and I feel the author is taking plenty of shortcuts with the plot. Yes, he is well supplied, well-trained, and thinks he can handle the situation, but after being stabbed in the leg by a crazed 15-year-old girl, one would think a bit of caution would be necessary.
